ATRIUM TOUR
If you're facing the bar, on the left hand side is the entrance to the atrium. There are screens and rose covered trellises to divide the bar from the atrium and pool area. Oriental type screens in black lacquer, pieces of emerald make the designs of grass along the lower edges, and hand painted rose garden scenes along the panels. As you pass through the short maze of panels, it opens up to reveal a large patio and swimming area. A little further in from there is the main part of the atrium. The patio, which is more like a very large gazebo, has 4 small tables with 2 chairs at each one. The tables and chairs are done in cherry wood, with hand carved rose designs. Candles and vases are set on the tables. The medium sized pool is made from natural stone. There is a waterfall built against the corner that feeds water into the pool. A light steam can be seen rising from the water at the top of the falls because it's fed from an underground hot spring, which keeps the water in the pool very warm but not hot and is great for the orchids that grow nearby. It is cooled some as it makes it's way down the falls. There are a few chairs, and a couple of tables next to the pool. Over to the left of the pool are changing rooms. One marked "Lords", the other marked "Ladies". The centerpiece to the atrium is a double joined heart maze of hedges. Around which there are smaller gardens of various types of flowers, from common to exotic. There are two small fish ponds in the center of each heart. The computer system has been installed and combined with the Maiden. Instead of having to put in CD's, one just needs to say the name and the song they wish to hear. The lighting system has been installed in the atrium. A second similar system is installed in the Maiden, minus the grow lights. The paths are made from river rock, and wind their way through the gardens and the maze. There are cherry wood benches to sit on and located in several places. There are still hidden
alcoves around the hedge maze and trellis covered benches that also offer
privacy. Dwarf fruit and shade trees line the paths and are scattered
throughout to provide a sense of being outdoors. Great for private
picnics or romantic interludes.
